Kelowna, BC – “Have you heard? Someone found the Ogopogo?! The guy was even able to take some photos from his phone before dropping it into the lake. On top of it all, the Ogopogo ate his phone! Fortunately the guy is pretty techie and the smartphone is GPS enabled, so he’s actually built an app that can now track the Ogopogo”, stated a local resident.
The founder is Miles Marziani, CEO of PlayMobility. Miles recently moved to Kelowna to follow his heart. Also shocking to him was to find the Ogopogo shortly thereafter! He has now developed and launched an app which will allow users to track and find the Ogopogo, titled, “Legend Tracker”.
“Legend Tracker” is an innovative, geo-tracking and treasure hunt app for smartphones. It uses a compass, a telescope and sonar to track the Ogopogo. Once you are close enough to the Ogopogo you can use the sonar to see him swimming and see what happens once you are within meters of the Legend! The way that you get these tools is by visiting participating tourist attractions and businesses located on the Legend Tracker Map. When you get to these locations, the GPS on your smartphone locks in your location, and ‘Congratulations!’ you receive tools and/or upgrades! You are then that much closer to finding the Legend! You can also collect gold when visiting the locations on the map, which eventually will be available to use as discount tokens at the participating locations. It’s a great marketing tool to bring people to businesses.
“It’s a great way to have fun in the Okanagan, get people to enjoy the outdoors, and keep the Legend alive. It is also an innovative way to attract tourists to Kelowna and give local residents something fun to do in their own city,” says Miles, “It’s also great for profiling Kelowna attraction’s as we’ve put photos and information about our city at the forefront of the application. We’re excited to see that the application has already been downloaded in over 40 countries! Once we add more Legends to the application, it will enable us to further promote this area through cross-promotion of Legend destinations. ”
